Colorado Hearing Aids and Service

hearing aidsCornerstone Hearing Centers, Inc. is a proud provider of the best Colorado hearing aids on the market.
We offer a wide variety of hearing aid devices to suit any and all hearing loss needs. Not all hearing aids
are for all hearing losses. A diagnostic evaluation is necessary to rule out medical contraindications for
hearing aid use. Following the evaluation, your audiologist will discuss your personal needs regarding
your hearing loss, lifestyle and budget.

Like so many other areas of medicine, hearing loss technology has come a very long way over the years, and 2012 is perhaps as exciting as any year before in the audiology field. At Cornerstone Hearing we pride ourselves on not only providing the highest quality hearing loss evaluations and consultations but also on carrying the best hearing aids on the market for our Colorado patients.

Many people are hesitant to accept that they may need hearing assistance, and for a long time their concerns were certainly justified. For many years hearing aids from a variety of manufacturers have faced harsh criticism for being inconsistent, ineffective, and expensive. But  the hearing patients across Colorado now have access to the most technologically advanced and affordable hearing aids on the market with the help of Cornerstone Hearing. We feature the latest and greatest hearing aids from the leading brands such as Siemens, Unitron, and Lyric.

Types of Hearing Aids

Cornerstone Hearing Centers is a proud provider of the best Colorado Hearing Aids that fit most hearing losses, lifestyle, and budget. The RIC (receiver in the canal) currently is the industries leader due to its discreet look and its superior sound quality. It is important to remember that not all hearing aids are the same even though they may look exactly alike.

Invisible In The Canal (IIC)

Hearing AidsThe smallest custom style, IIC instruments site invisibly in or past the second bend of the ear canal. IIC are specifically designed for mild to moderate hearing loss.

Completely in the Canal (CIC)

The smallest custom style, CIC instruments fit deeply and entirely within the ear canal. They fit mild to moderate hearing losses and offer high cosmetic appeal as they’re nearly invisible when worn.

In the Canal (ITC)

ITC instruments sit in the lower portion of the outer ear bowl, making them comfortable and easy to use. Because they’re slightly larger than CIC models, they have a longer battery life, and can host additional features such as directional microphones for better understanding in noisy environments, and controls such as volume controls. They fit mild and moderate hearing losses.

Half Shell (HS)

Half shell models fill half the bowl of the outer ear. Like ITC models, their size enables the addition of features such as directional microphones, volume controls and push buttons to activate special settings  for different listening environments. Because of their size, they may be easier than smaller models to handle for some people and yet are still often disguised by hairstyles and sideburns. This hearing aid style looks similar to the ITC hearing aid when worn on the ear, but is slightly larger.

Full Shell or In the Ear (ITE)

Full shell models sit flush within the outer ear bowl. Their size allows the maximum number of additional controls and features such as directional microphones, which require space on the outer portion of the instrument. They use a larger battery size than the smaller styles, and can fit a larger receiver with enough power for even some severe hearing losses. Because of their flexibility, they’re widely recommended for mild to server hearing loss.

Behind-the-ear-Styles

Behind-the-Ear (BTE) models sit behind or on top of the outer ear, with tubing that routes sounds down into the ear that connects to an ear tip or earmold to secure them in the ear canal. BTE’s come in colors to blend with hair or skin tones, and even chrome colors, and a variety of other fun designs and colors to suit your own personality. Different BTE sizes accommodate different features, controls, battery types and degrees of power (larger instruments generally have more power than smaller ones). While many people choose discreet BTE’s, others are tempted to show off the fun design and colors.

Mini BTE with slim tube and tip
Receiver in the ear (RITE)Mini BTE’s are designed to hide behind the outer ear, and have ultra thin tubing to discreetly route sound into the ear. The tubing connects to a soft tip that sits in the ear canal but does not occlude it. The result is a natural, open feeling as airflow and sound enter th ear naturally around the tip, while amplified sound enters through the tip. This is known as “open fitting” and is recommended for mild to moderate high frequency losses.

RITE models, also known as RIC (receiver-in-the-canal) models, are mini BTEs that have the speaker of the instrument incorporated in the ear tip, instead of in the main body of the instrument. RITE instruments fit mild to severe hearing losses. This hearing aid style looks similar to the Mini BTE when worn on the ear.

BTE with earmold

BTEs with earmolds fit mild through profound hearing losses. Their longer shape, following the contour behind the outer ear, generally can house more features, controls, and power than custom models. The earmold color and style, as well as the wearer’s hairstyle, determine exactly how they’ll look on each person.

Dr. Dagmar was GREAT!!!

Mar 20, 2012 by Cheryle

I have experience nightmares stories of what my parents have received wearing hearing aids over 20 years. My first experience only 2 years ago with another hearing center located 50 miles from home was about the same. Thinking I was getting the best service in Denver.

Until I met Dagmar! WOW! A wonderful caring doctor who truly loves what she does. Fits you properly in the device that works for you. Not to mention the lovely Karen who brightens your visit with her wonderful smile and laughter. You are greeted with Kaitlin the youthful receptionist who works very hard to accommodate your appointment needs. (Except when there is a blizzard or tornado).

I love the thought of hearing. A gift everyone should experience. My plan is to move my parents and spread the word of a rare caring “business” and with “customer service”. Imagine in today world!
